Adding a water fountain to your garden or even within your home is a great idea. It helps bring in the peacefulness you always wanted, while also making you happy. There are a variety of options when it comes to placing a water fountain, but you do want to figure out its ideal placement in a proper manner. With that in mind, here are some guidelines to focus on.
If you want to place the water fountain properly, then you have to take into account things like the feng shui bagua map. The career area, also known as Kan, is known to be associated with the water element. It also symbolizes networking and knowledge.
Ideally, you want to have the water fountain placed in the east direction if you are focused on family and health. This is a crucial placement for a lot of people, and it does convey some important results and benefits. On top of that, the water fountain can face south east for prosperity and abundance. If this is the most important aspect for you, then SE is a great option, and it will convey some incredible results if you do it right.
If you place the water fountain in the north side of your home, this is a sign of career boosting and it also enhances your path in life. It can help quite a bit, and it conveys great results that you do not want to miss. It’s very important to figure out what goals you have for the water fountain, and that can help make a huge difference if you manage everything appropriately and at the highest possible level.
Placing the water fountain near wood elements or in the entryway of your home can also be a great idea. It helps bring that sense of abundance that’s super important and the benefits will shine every time. That’s what makes it the ideal option to keep in mind, no matter the situation.
Ideally, you want to avoid placing the water fountain in the southern part of your home. Based on the feng shui ideas, south is associated with reputation and fame, and it’s also a fire symbol. These elements are contradicting one another, and that means you end up dealing with a bad feng shui. You have energy that’s conflicting. That obviously becomes a problem.
You always want the water fountain to flow towards your home. That means you will have abundance and wealth. Having it oriented towards the south means that all of those benefits are flowing away and that’s definitely becoming an issue. Addressing that properly is a crucial idea, and it will certainly convey some impressive benefits if it’s all managed correctly.
While placing the water fountain in the southern part of your home, the location itself is also very important. You want to avoid having this in the bedroom, as it can be a problem. The living room is usually an ideal place for a water fountain, so that’s certainly an idea to take into consideration as much as you can.
Finding the ideal place for a water fountain does take a bit of a trial and error. It’s always a good idea to take your time and prevent any rush. Experimenting with different placements is always a great idea, and it’s up to you to find the right location within your home. At the end of the day, it’s a very good idea to check it out, give it a try for yourself and then you can narrow down the ideal water fountain placement accordingly.

Of course, you always want to target the best possible quality that you can afford. The higher the quality, the better the results you will get here. But in the end, the benefits can be great and that’s the thing you want to pursue.
Styles and themes can be a great thing to consider when you buy the water fountain too. It’s important to understand how the water fountain functions, so you can have a good idea of how it all comes together here.
The shape of a water fountain is just as important as its design. The idea here is that a narrow shape makes it easy to fit the water fountain in a variety of places. But a wider shape is a bit harder and it requires additional space within your home. As we mentioned above, if you’re making the right measurements you won’t have any worries.
Some water fountains have a splash, others don’t. They tend to be self-contained, but if you do have a model with splash, that’s certainly one of those things you need to consider as much as possible. ]]>Check if the water pump is fully submerged in water. Water pumps start to create noise when the water level is too low. If water is replenished but the pump is still emitting noise, check that the pump is not vibrating against the side or bottom of the fountain basin. You can also provide additional buffer by placing a sponge or pad underneath or beside it to minimize the vibrations.
Do note that all water pumps emit a soft humming sound and there is no such thing as a completely quiet pump.
My pump is on but no water is flowing
Firstly, check to see if the pump and tubing are connected. They may become disconnected during installation or cleaning. If the connection is loose, wrap some electrician’s tape around the pump’s outflow nipple so that it forms a tight connection. Next, ensure that the tubing is smoothed out and not tangled up or kinked. Unplug the pump and plug it back in a couple of times to remove air bubbles.
If there is no issue with the tubing and connection, check if the impeller is stuck. Tap the pump on a hard surface to loosen the impeller. You may also have to clean the pump and impeller to get rid of debris for it to spin again.
Pump and tubing keep coming loose
If tubing is loose, you can wrap a little bit of tape around the pump’s outlet nipple to create a tighter connection. Do not overtighten as this may cause the plastic to break.
General cleaning of water pumps
Ensure that the water pump is always submerged
The water pump has to be completely submerged under water at all times. As water is constantly flowing through the water fountain, there will be water lost through evaporation as time goes by. Keep an eye on the water level regularly and water should be replenished every 2 -3 days by pouring it directly into the water fountain. This will prevent the fountain from drying up and damaging the water pump.
Use Distilled Water
It will be ideal to use distilled water in your water fountain for easier maintenance. As tap water contains minerals and impurities, it tends to leave residual substances and may affect the water pump. It is recommended to wash your water pump every 1 – 2 months to ensure the water flow is smooth and to prevent residual build up.
Check for blockages
Check your water pump regularly and remove any slime, algae or debris that may clog it, especially for outdoor fountains. The whirring impeller of the water pump may get jammed up if something is stuck in the impeller. However, such problems occur very infrequently as water pumps are usually very low maintenance. The pumps can easily disassembled for cleaning and washing to remove debris and allow it to function well again.
Water Control Remote
All our water fountain pumps have a flow control mechanism to adjust the strength of water flow of the pump. These will prevent unwanted splashing of water from the water fountain. However, depending on the type of water fountain, some splashes will be unavoidable. Do check with us and we can recommend the suitable fountain types for you accordingly.
Secure The Water Pump
All our water fountains come with a rubber tube below the water pump to help secure it to the water fountain. Ensure that the pipe is attached properly and the water pump is fully submerged to prevent it from getting damaged.
Pump Noise
Water pumps typically emit a soft humming sound. Some pumps are quieter than others, and some fountains, usually those with the pump submerged in deeper water, conceal the sound better than others. However, the sound may be amplified through certain furniture, such as a wooden table. To minimize this effect, set the fountain on a softer material such as grass carpet, a piece of foam, or even an old mousepad.
Final Note
Submersible water pumps are not designed to work without water and should only be used when submerged completely in water. Never allow your pump run dry, and it is always good to keep an eye on the water level regularly. If the pump is making a sucking or growling sound, it is a signal to replenish more water.
Turn off the water pump if you're going to be away for an extended amount of time or if there is no one to actively maintain the water levels of the fountain.
Always disconnect your water fountain from power source before cleaning or servicing. After cleaning, do keep your hands and surroundings dry before plugging it back into an electrical outlet and turning it back on.
All our water pumps are under warranty for 90 days. If you ever need to buy a replacement pump, we are able to provide a replacement for your water fountain.

Top up water regularly
Ensure that your water fountain always has enough water while it is running. Keeping your water fountain running while there is low levels of water will damage your pump and shorten its lifespan. How regularly you need to refill your water fountain will depend on its size and the climate, so it is important to always keep an eye on the water level and add water whenever necessary. The rule of thumb is that the pump should always be submerged in water.
If you want to take fountain care to a higher level, you can even switch to filling up your fountain with distilled water instead of tap water to help prevent algae and white scale build up.
Clean your pump
Remove the pump in the proper way according to the owner's manual and clean it thoroughly every few months. This will allow you to spot any debris or blockage in the pump. The pump is the heart of your water fountain and is the system that keeps it running as it should. Similarly, the pump is the first place to experience build up as the water is being run and filtered through it.
Wipe the pump with a clean cloth or sponge and ensure that it is completely clean before reattaching it back to the fountain. Refer to NAGARE's User Guide on YouTube to follow the correct method to detach and reattach your pump.
Avoid switching off your water fountains
There is a misconception that you can prolong the lifespan of your water fountains if you don't switch it on often. Therefore, some people may switch it off at night or when not in use. However, on the contrary, the way to make your water fountains last is to keep it running all the time. The pump should be able to last for years if they are being cleaned regularly, and by replacing the pump it means that your water fountains can last indefinitely.
Running water allows for a cleaner environment. Stagnant water will lead to debris and buildup much faster and is also a potential breeding ground for pests.
Clean your water fountains
Outdoor fountains are at risk of having more debris and build up as they are exposed to external weather conditions. Remove items like leaves, dirt or grass that will potentially clog up your water fountains.
If you find that your water fountains are developing algae or a coat of white substance (known as white scale), you can add in a couple of algaecide to eliminate it. For white scale, use white vinegar and rub it gently to remove it. There are also fountain cleansers in the market that can do the trick.
Caring and maintaining for your water fountain is not difficult at all. Doing it properly will ensure that your water fountain can last you a lifetime. Refer to NAGARE's channel for our User Guide to learn how to maintain your water fountain the proper way.
